This week’s Studio Spotlight features our newest photographer to the studio, Jamie Howell Photography<\/a>. Jamie’s use of vibrant colors and lighting makes his style unique from our other photographers. Jamie got his start as a mechanical engineer but transitioned into a field on the opposite side of the spectrum! See below to learn more about Jamie and his company and to see his colorful work.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Q: <\/strong>How did you get started in photography?<\/p>\n

Jamie: <\/strong>I started off with photography in college at the Georgia Tech newspaper and yearbook. I trained as a photojournalist there for about two years before getting into weddings in 2005.<\/p>\n

Q: <\/strong>What is your best advice for the day-of the wedding?<\/p>\n

Jamie: <\/strong>Leave plenty of time. Almost nothing will go exactly according to schedule \u2013 just plan on it. If you schedule things too tightly, something will almost always get cut short. Unfortunately that something is oftentimes photography. It\u2019s an easy thing to cut short, but it\u2019s one of the things you\u2019ll miss the most after the wedding is over.<\/p>\n

Q: <\/strong>What is your favorite trend happening in photography right now?<\/p>\n

Jamie: <\/strong>The transitioning from stiffly posed dull pictures to more natural, casual pictures. The best photography is about capturing something real. Real expressions, real emotions, and real interactions always make for the best pictures \u2013 to me anyway.<\/p>\n

Q: <\/strong>Do you have a favorite client story?<\/p>\n

Jamie: <\/strong>I recently booked a wedding with a girl whose sister\u2019s wedding I shot two years ago. It really is a strong endorsement when a family hires you for a second time.<\/p>\n

Q: <\/strong>What is your favorite quote?<\/p>\n

Jamie: <\/strong>My favorite quote changes by the week. My current one is \u201cComfort is the enemy of achievement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Q: <\/strong>Do you have any pets?<\/p>\n

Jamie: <\/strong>I have a little black lab\/hound puppy named Miles.<\/p>\n

Q: <\/strong>What is your favorite book?<\/p>\n

Jamie: <\/strong>I love science books. If I\u2019m taking the time to read a book, I want to learn something from it. Probably the most powerful book I\u2019ve ever read has to be \u201cGood Calories, Bad Calories\u201d by Gary Taubes. It completely changed the way I look at food and typical western diets. It’s an intense read.<\/p>\n

Q: <\/strong>What is your favorite Atlanta attraction?<\/p>\n

Jamie: <\/strong>Turner Field. The High Museum is pretty awesome too.<\/p>\n
