Despite what you might think, ampersands (&) have a lot of symbolic meaning in the realm of weddings. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing characters (who doesn’t love a cute little squiggly?), they have unifying power. \u00a0As the shorthand symbol for the word “and,” they bring together Bride & Groom, Husband & Wife, You & Me, and make them all a collective unit. \u00a0It makes sense that one might incorporate such a symbol into their civil union from two individuals to one married couple.
