Wedding Ceremony Music Tips

For many brides to be, selecting wedding ceremony music can be a daunting task. There’s not as much pressure when it comes to choosing songs for the reception since most people are eating, chatting (and drinking!) while listening to the music, but during the ceremony, all eyes are on the Bride, and all ears listening to the music she’s walking down the aisle to.

The best place to start is deciding what style or genre of music you want for your ceremony.  Are you looking for something traditional or more contemporary?  Certain instrumentations such as guitar or harp? Country music or Latin Jazz?  There are many different routes you can take, but choosing something that represents you and your spouse, while encompassing your wedding vision, will make the music memorable for years to come.

Though instrumental music is a great option for ceremony music, don’t feel like you can’t step outside that. There are many great love songs with words that can be used during your ceremony. And if you have a favorite song you want to walk down the aisle to, but you just want the music and not the words, a number of groups arrange instrumental versions of popular tunes- check out the Vitamin String Quartet, O’Neill Brothers, and Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. Another idea is to use the music or score from one of your favorite movies. Many of our couples simple use a Denver wedding DJ to play their favorite songs during the ceremony.

And as a side note, if you choose to use traditional music, “Here Comes The Bride” doesn’t have to be played by a loud, scary organ… unless, of course, you are going for a more dramatic effect, then we’ll make sure you get that!  Just about any musical instruement can play the “traditional” songs you hear at weddings.
