Why You Should Have Your Wedding Hair And Makeup Done Professionally

When looking for a way to cut down on the cost of a wedding, some brides think they should cut out professional hair and makeup. As a bride,  you may think you have this covered since you have been doing your own makeup since you first learned how to put on eyeliner. There are so many reasons why you should hire a professional hair and makeup artist on your special day. The biggest reason is that is is your BIG day and it’s the one day when you should be totally pampered.

Here are a few other reasons why you should hire a professional to do your wedding hair and makeup:

Professional Products: We are used to the same every hair and makeup routine. The products we carry in our purse are more than enough to appease our comfort level for work, school and daily life. However, on the wedding day,  it’s important to hire an experienced artist who uses a combination of professional products that are meant to last and withstand the rigorous pace of the wedding. Being in front of the camera and being “on” for 12-15 hours is much different than sitting at work or hanging out with friends on a normal day.

Proper Skin Prep: Underneath the look of beauty that is created just for you, it is important to ensure that each moment is flawless. By utilizing the proper application and combination of skin moisturizers, primers and professional hair products, each smile for the camera and hug to each guest will be equally composed and put together. From the  first kiss to the last hug goodbye, we want our hair and makeup to be flawless.

Every Picture, Perfect: A professional understands which products are suited for the camera, where and how they should be applied and the best way to use them to achieve optimum allure in every photo. You will look back on your wedding photos for the rest of your life. They will be displayed in your home, uploaded to Facebook, and shown off to all your guests. You will smile every time you see the style of you and your bridesmaids, knowing that you took care in everyone looking their best.

5 Common Mistakes Brides Make When Starting to Plan Their Wedding

1. Not considering a professional wedding planner – Even if you hire an experienced pro for a few hours, it will always pay off. Whether you need help finding the perfect venue or need realistic estimates to create an accurate budget, a seasoned pro can share their expertise.

2. Meeting with vendors before you have a wedding date and venue booked – Your vendors already have weddings on the books for at least the next year. While you may be super excited to book your favorite florist, wait until you have a confirmed date and venue so they can actually book your date and know they are available.

3. Not having a rough budget estimate from the start – If your overall wedding budget is $30k but you want the venue that is $20k, you are really going to skimp on every other vendor category to stay close to your budget.

4. Randomly finding vendors – Ask your venue for a preferred vendor list, hire an experienced planner or use a resource such as StudioWed to find reputable professional vendors who have a great reputation and at least two years of experience. Also, read reviews for potential vendors on websites such as the Knot.com, MyWedding and Wedding Wire.

5. Not having a general style before you look at venues – Rustic mountain cabin, historic mansion, grand hotel ballroom, private home, country club, organic farm…all of these offer a very different types of atmosphere for a wedding. What is the feeling and type of atmosphere you want to create? Romantic, elegant, luxury, casual, chic, modern, artsy, vintage, simple and eclectic are just a few common adjectives to help you get started.

There are so many details that go into planning a wedding that finding the right service can be somewhat daunting. With our friends at A Music Plus we are able to provide a list of what exactly you need to know to find the right DJ. Any quality company will have no problem answering these questions for you, so do not be afraid to ask!

  • Look for a company with at least five years of experience and that can provide good references
  • Make sure that every thing you are promised is presented to you in a written contract
  • Call the company during off hours to learn how they can be reached if something goes wrong
  • Use a company that is locally owned – you will have better luck if you do this instead of a nationwide business
  • Find a company that is willing to provide personal consultations at their place of business and promises to follow up with you the week of your wedding to confirm
  • Look for a company that is flexible in what they offer you, after all, it is your day and they should honor your requests
  • Use a company that belongs to organizations like: International Special Events Society (ISES), the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE), the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA) and other organizations of this type
  • Learn about their Liability and workers compensation insurance – you don’t want to be held liable if something goes wrong
