Top piece of advice for couples in the planning process:

1. hire a qualified wedding planner! Budgeting for planning services will be one of the best investments (other than the flowers, of course!) you can make! The list of reasons for doing this is long, but a good planner will be your liaison and voice in a sea of vendors….

2. Have a wedding suitable for your budget. My mantra: It is better to have the wedding of your dreams with 75 guests, than stress out trying to make it work for 250….

Too much research of cake designs, already done,  (ehem Pinterest fans) will actually stray you from keeping true to ‘your style’.  1-3 images is plenty.  With some insight on color palettes and floral for the event.  The rest of the cake/dessert designing process is smooth as icing. ;o)  While choosing flavors for your delicious cake, don’t be afraid to add in a ‘fun’ tier for your guests.  it will not only give the ‘foodies’ something to Twitter about, but will help the cake you ordered get devoured.  And lastly…… think about the lighting the cake will have.  Sometimes a dark corner in a reception room will require a cake with a ‘pop’ of color, interest, or unique lighting, while an outdoor wedding cake with tone of sunlight looks amazing with use of edible metallic elements, sparkle, or textured interest.  have fun!
