I LOVE picking at the StudioWed Asheville wedding planners brains and finding out what is trending in the wedding industry this season!  Every season there are new trends that are becoming popular, and there are definitely ones that need to go! However, lets not focus on the negatives and instead focus on the new and improved wedding trends of 2016!

We reached out to our friends over at Verge Events to find out what they are loving currently! Sarah, one of Verge Events wedding designers, chimed in with some great new wedding trends that are oh so trendy currently! Enjoy and happy planning!

1) Acrylic – we’re moving away from the rustic and onto modern! Acrylic chairs are very popular right now. Also acrylic signage, we looooooove this trend, it’s different and sleek and clean. Everything looks like it’s floating.

We are taking it way way back to 2013 on todays blog post.  The Grand Bohemian has always been such gorgeous spot to get married at in Asheville NC.  If this gives you any idea, it neighbors the Biltmore Estate, and has both indoor and outdoor venue options for your wedding.

This throwback Thursday on the blog today was shot by Sunday Grant Photography.  This wedding took place in both the outdoor space followed by the gorgeous Grand Bohemian ballroom.  From the looks of it, this wedding looked like a full on party! As Sunday Grant said on her blog, “I am pretty sure every song was sung out load by every guest as they danced the night away.”.  The wedding ended with some late night food from Hardees and a bubble departure!

When it comes to fashion we all know that trends come ago.  Which is why we thought it would be a good idea to reach out to Margaux, owner of Wildflower Bridal, and get an update on wedding dress trends! We truly are so lucky to have a beautiful bridal boutique in Asheville NC.  Margaux’s bridal shop is up-to-date with the current designers and trends of each season. She makes trips every year to New York bridal fashion week to keep her store in stock with only the best dresses of the season!

That being said here are 5 wedding dress trends of the season from a true expert, Margaux! All trends are paired with dresses that you can find at Wildflower Bridal Boutique.

1. Sleeves- cap sleeves, half sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, and especially LONG SLEEVES

2. Illusion/tattoo lace- on sleeves, on necklines, on back details

3. Showing some skin- it can be an open back, a deep plunging neckline, a slit in the skirt, etc

4. Body-conscious shapes- silhouettes that are curve-hugging and sexy- mostly fit and flare/trumpet styles

5. Separates- lots of tops/bustiers and skirts that can be mixed and matched and worn again after the wedding

Today we are throwing it back really far to a Dec 2013! Biltmore weddings are always so timelessly classic, and this is a perfect example of one.  You never want to look back at your wedding pictures and think, what was I thinking!?  Just like with anything, trends come and go. That is why it is important to pick a wedding team that will help guide your wedding in the right direction…  so when you look back at your pictures you won’t have that “on no” moment! This throwback Asheville wedding is a perfect example of this.  The photography was shot by Two Ring Studios. The wedding planner behind this beautiful wedding was of course Events by Kiersa! The beautiful floral touches were produced by Flora.  Lastly, the wonderful Tim Lolley was this happy couples officiant for their big day!

A little bit about the wedding… Events by Kiersa really put it so perfectly in her blog post :: “Nate and Katie had their ceremony and reception under mistletoe on the veranda, and the cocktail hour in the ballroom. The centerpieces were homemade cookies tiered on vintage stands that doubled as guest favors, a tradition in the bride’s hometown. In addition, guests were gifted with ornaments from St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, as a token of the donation that Katie and Nate made to medical research in their guests’ honor.” – Events by Kiersa
