Honeymoon Friday: Top 4 African Destinations

My trusty Honeymoon Friday sidekicks were out of the office this week (my guess is on a fabulous vacation!), so I had free reign on today’s travel post. And let me tell you, it was hard! There are so many options, so I headed over to The Knot for some help. There I found their Top 4 African honeymoon destinations, and I knew I had found my inspiration! So here are the best locations when you’re looking for something a little more exotic and a little more interesting.

1) Seychelles Islands

It’s a little hard to get to (sometimes you have to take three or four flights), but the views and beaches are worth the trip! Island-hopping is a must.

2) Mauritius

I remember learning about the island of Mauritius in my middle school French class and making a mental note to go there one day. It has a rich culture and is a melting pot of different nationalities.

3) South Africa

South Africa has a nice mix of water activities, wildlife and nature excursions, and city nightlife. There is a ton to do, and it’s easier to get to than the other small islands off the coast of Africa.

4) Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech is perfect for history buffs and adventure enthusiasts. You can tour palaces and shop local markets like the Place Djemaa el-Fna. It’s an outdoor nighttime market with all sorts of out-there vendors: jugglers, acrobats, monkey tamers, healers, fortune tellers, fire eaters, food vendors, magicians, etc. The word “bazaar” comes to mind immediately, and I would absolutely LOVE to get to this place one day!

If you’re wary of booking honeymoons to such exotic locations on your own and dealing with everything that comes with it, let LT Travel Connection know! They have the inside scoop on international travel.

Let me know what locations you want me to delve into next! Where are you thinking of going on your honeymoon? I never get tired of looking for cool hotels and off-the-beaten-path locations.

Real Wedding: Katie + Matt

I’m excited to share the first wedding from Rae Leytham Photography on the blog! The husband and wife team of Rae and Wesley are the newest photographers to the studio, but they fit in right away. Every time they come up from their home in Florida for events, I have so much fun cutting up with them and talking about the upcoming addition to their family–twins!

Okay, back to the wedding of Katie + Matt! They married at Carillon Beach, one of the most beautiful destination wedding locations in Florida. Check out the fun portraits and beautiful details captured by Rae and Wesley!

I love all of the texture on her dress.

This chapel, with its crisp white walls, big windows, and pine ceiling, just spells out the beach to me.

I am seriously swooning over the pattern and color of these linens!

Lemons, limes, and apples served as design accents.

It was explained that the black dots in the next photo were dragonflies. Love it!

Thanks to Rae Leytham Photography for letting me feature this cool Carillon Beach wedding on the blog! Let me know what other kinds of real weddings you’d like to see; your wish is my command!

Daily Dress: Eden Bridals

I am seriously digging today’s Daily Dress. It’s a non-traditional bridesmaid dress by Eden Bridals, and I love the structured bodice, free-flowing skirt, and delicate bow at the hip. I also love the elegant two-tone look, but it’s available in tons of chic colors.

Something Old Something New Inspiration Board #2

When it comes to the Something Old Something New event, we have a definite style in mind: vintage chic. This style plays into the overall look and feel of the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation. While it’s exposed wood and antique-style decor might read masculine, we want to play up the elegant and romantic vibe of the space.

Here is inspiration board #2 from Project Duo Photography’s shoot at the Lodge. How adorable is this couple? Let me know in the comments which inspiration board you prefer: today’s romantic portraits or yesterday’s lakeside table design.
