Honeymoon Friday: Hôtel de Glace

LT Travel Connection wanted to speak to the adventurous with today’s Honeymoon Friday post, and they hit the nail on the head. How does staying in a hotel made entirely of ice and snow sound? One where it’s helpful to have another, albeit more traditional, hotel suite for your luggage and showers?

That’s exactly the experience you get with Québec’s Hôtel de Glace. The hotel is redesigned every year and debuts in the winter. It’s open from the first week of January until the last week of March (for 2011: January 7-March 27) every year.

And here’s a great deal: for $599/person, you get several perks: a themed suite at the Hôtel de Glace, a suite with a fireplace at the nearby Four Points by Sheraton Québec for luggage storage and showers, complimentary welcome drinks, a romantic dinner, after dinner chocolates, Nordic area under-the-stars hot tubs and saunas, breakfast, a welcome gift, personal valet service, and all gratuities. I’m almost out of breath just typing it all. And now, of course, on to the photos!

This is the super cool Ice Bar at the hotel. The drinks are served in glasses made out of – what else? – ice.

One of the themed bedrooms. The beds have ice bases but are then covered with a mattress, box springs, sheets, and an Arctic-proof sleeping bag.

Okay, I’m sold! Take a tour of the hotel and get a chance to slide down the ice slide!

I couldn’t resist showing you a couple of wedding portraits (via the Femtalks blog) from the hotel. How cool would a destination wedding be at this place? They even have an ice chapel (no kidding)!

I’m in total love with her hand muffs!

See the hotel’s FAQ for lots of helpful info, and thanks to LT Travel Connection for thinking outside of the box on today’s adventurous location!

Honeymoon Friday: Italy

I’ve covered so many beach locations for Honeymoon Friday, and that is probably because I love the beach so much. I wanted to mix it up today, though, so I asked the ladies at LT Travel Connection to send me their best deals for Italy. They definitely didn’t disappoint!

This deal is awesome: you get to spend eight days with three nights in Rome and three nights on the Amalfi Coast. It also includes a tour of Rome, a daily breakfast buffet, a romantic dinner, transportation from Rome to Naples, and more. All of that starts at just $2370! For a romantic European honeymoon, that’s a steal.

And just take a look at some of the mega-gorgeous participating hotels!

Hotel Poseidon, Positano

Capri Palace, Capri

P.S. I’m officially head-over-heels in love with this hotel. I wonder if I could get some time off to visit Capri…hmm.

Hotel Eliseo, Rome

Hilton Sorrento Palace, Sorrento

I am always amazed at how they build things in Europe. They go up mountains, with buildings on top of buildings on top of buildings. The history combined with the romanticism is just too much to pass up! As always, if you need assistance with these overseas trips, LT Travel Connection is always here to help!

Honeymoon Friday: Top 4 African Destinations

My trusty Honeymoon Friday sidekicks were out of the office this week (my guess is on a fabulous vacation!), so I had free reign on today’s travel post. And let me tell you, it was hard! There are so many options, so I headed over to The Knot for some help. There I found their Top 4 African honeymoon destinations, and I knew I had found my inspiration! So here are the best locations when you’re looking for something a little more exotic and a little more interesting.

1) Seychelles Islands

It’s a little hard to get to (sometimes you have to take three or four flights), but the views and beaches are worth the trip! Island-hopping is a must.

2) Mauritius

I remember learning about the island of Mauritius in my middle school French class and making a mental note to go there one day. It has a rich culture and is a melting pot of different nationalities.

3) South Africa

South Africa has a nice mix of water activities, wildlife and nature excursions, and city nightlife. There is a ton to do, and it’s easier to get to than the other small islands off the coast of Africa.

4) Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech is perfect for history buffs and adventure enthusiasts. You can tour palaces and shop local markets like the Place Djemaa el-Fna. It’s an outdoor nighttime market with all sorts of out-there vendors: jugglers, acrobats, monkey tamers, healers, fortune tellers, fire eaters, food vendors, magicians, etc. The word “bazaar” comes to mind immediately, and I would absolutely LOVE to get to this place one day!

If you’re wary of booking honeymoons to such exotic locations on your own and dealing with everything that comes with it, let LT Travel Connection know! They have the inside scoop on international travel.

Let me know what locations you want me to delve into next! Where are you thinking of going on your honeymoon? I never get tired of looking for cool hotels and off-the-beaten-path locations.

Honeymoon Friday: Anguilla

If you’re still unsure about where to take your honeymoon, but you know you want beach relaxation and contemporary elegance, look no further than the LT Travel Connection-recommended Viceroy Hotel in Anguilla. It is on the must list for many travel magazines and when you see this hotel and location, you’ll understand why.

The hotel is made up of private oceanfront villas, beachfront suites, and blufftop guestrooms, all with private pools. This location is the ultimate in relaxation and style. LT Travel Connection has all the reservation and flight know-how you need for exotic locations such as Anguilla, so just imagine the possibilities!
