Asheville Wedding Flower Tips from Studio Flora Diva

photo credit: asheville wedding photographer, aaron imaging ; asheville event planner, verge events

Thank you so much to Asheville wedding florist, Beth from Studio Flora Diva, for sending over some great tips and advice when selecting your flowers for your wedding.  It can be so overwhelming as you look through bridal magazines, and scroll the million wedding blogs that are out there…so here are some tips from a pro that can make it a little easier for you!

Thanks Beth!!!

When you spot a picture of flowers or a floral design style you like, tear it out, put it in a folder, and bring the folder with you to your consultation.

Choose your color palette and your bridesmaid dress color before you meet with your florist. This will help with flower choices.

Some flower varieties are seasonal: tulips, peonies, dahlias, and zinnias, to name a few. If peonies are your favorite flower, but your wedding is in August, you will either have to choose another flower, or change your wedding date to late April- May!

On average, the cost for wedding flowers is 10-15% of your budget for the entire wedding. So, if you have budgeted $50 k total, you’ll be spending approximately $5000.00 – $7500.00 on flowers.

Be realistic about your budget. Purchasing 10 bridesmaid bouquets and 20 centerpieces will be impossible on a $1500.00 budget. Also, it may be more cost effective to have one large arrangement as a focal point, instead of 10 small ones that get lost.

Wedding floral is very labor intensive. Prices reflect labor cost as well as cost of flowers and materials.

Be willing to let your own style shine! While pictures of other weddings are great for inspiration, ask your florist to change the design a bit so your wedding flowers become uniquely you!

Have fun!  ~ Beth Hohensee, AIFD

Asheville Weddings: a studiowed couple tara+joe

We love getting notes like this! This came from Asheville wedding photographer, Mozingo Photography, who introduced a bride to StudioWed. Tara and Joseph are so sweet, and have such a great wedding team for their wedding day! We are looking forward to next June!  Want to see more of their engagement pics? Here you go!

Hi Meriah!
I hope you are having a fun and busy summer! I wanted to email you to fill you in on some stuff that I have done because I’M SO EXCITED! And, it’s all really Thanks to YOU because you got me into StudioWed. Joseph and I hired Nicole {Verge Events
} to do our wedding planning. We set up an appointment with Blossoms to do a consultation in a couple of weeks for the flowers. The reason I’m so excited about all of this is because the Event Director (Kathy) at the Doubletree knows Nicole, Nicole knows you and Blossoms, the Rabbi knows Blossoms and loves them too. I feel like I have such a great creative team behind me and I know it’s going to work out so well!

So thanks again for introducing me to StudioWed…

All the Best,
Tara

Asheville Wedding Florist featured in CeCe Style!

StudioWed’s own Asheville wedding florist, Studio Flora Diva, was recently featured in CeCe Style for this amazing table setup below.  Beth, along with planner Ivy Robinson, created this table scape that to me is absolutely stunning.

Now if you are getting married in Asheville, you may be saying why is this girl showing me a picture of a table at the beach?  Good question.  I was immediately drawn to this photo because it takes risks.  Not many people would have pushed the table up to the ocean.  They would have backed it up and had the ocean as the backdrop, not part of the design.

So my question to you…what are you doing that is different for your wedding?  One of my favorite things to do in planning a wedding is to see a place that we can do something different that has not been done before.  You do not always have to do the “this is how its done” mentality.  If you want something different, just ask!  Granted, some times we need to heed the guidance of a venue because they know there space, and know what works the best logistically.  However, they will let you know if something you want to do will not work for one reason or another.

So go for it!  Be bold and be different.  It is your wedding afterall!
