Real Watercolor, FL Wedding: Mysteena + Josh

Andrea Taylor is one lucky woman! Why, you ask? Because she is super talented and is able to shoot weddings like the one I’m sharing with you today! Mysteena + Josh had an intimate wedding on the beach in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. I had the extreme pleasure of living there for a summer during college, and let me tell you–it is the most beautiful beach in the world. Check out some photos of the Watercolor Inn wedding by lucky and talented Andrea Taylor Studio.

Andrea shared on her blog that the groom was quite anxious and had a hard time sitting still for his portraits!

I love the skirt on  that flower girl dress!

After the ceremony, Andrea was able to capture some portraits of the couple by the lake and on the beach.

Andrea’s classic and unpretentious style fit this beach wedding perfectly. And next time, I hope she needs another assistant!

Studio Spotlight: Jamie Howell Photography

This week’s Studio Spotlight features our newest photographer to the studio, Jamie Howell Photography. Jamie’s use of vibrant colors and lighting makes his style unique from our other photographers. Jamie got his start as a mechanical engineer but transitioned into a field on the opposite side of the spectrum! See below to learn more about Jamie and his company and to see his colorful work.

Q: How did you get started in photography?

Jamie: I started off with photography in college at the Georgia Tech newspaper and yearbook. I trained as a photojournalist there for about two years before getting into weddings in 2005.

Q: What is your best advice for the day-of the wedding?

Jamie: Leave plenty of time. Almost nothing will go exactly according to schedule – just plan on it. If you schedule things too tightly, something will almost always get cut short. Unfortunately that something is oftentimes photography. It’s an easy thing to cut short, but it’s one of the things you’ll miss the most after the wedding is over.

Q: What is your favorite trend happening in photography right now?

Jamie: The transitioning from stiffly posed dull pictures to more natural, casual pictures. The best photography is about capturing something real. Real expressions, real emotions, and real interactions always make for the best pictures – to me anyway.

Q: Do you have a favorite client story?

Jamie: I recently booked a wedding with a girl whose sister’s wedding I shot two years ago. It really is a strong endorsement when a family hires you for a second time.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

Jamie: My favorite quote changes by the week. My current one is “Comfort is the enemy of achievement.”

Q: Do you have any pets?

Jamie: I have a little black lab/hound puppy named Miles.

Q: What is your favorite book?

Jamie: I love science books. If I’m taking the time to read a book, I want to learn something from it. Probably the most powerful book I’ve ever read has to be “Good Calories, Bad Calories” by Gary Taubes. It completely changed the way I look at food and typical western diets. It’s an intense read.

Q: What is your favorite Atlanta attraction?

Jamie: Turner Field. The High Museum is pretty awesome too.

We’re so glad that Jamie has joined the studio! Check out last week’s Studio Spotlight here, and check back next week to see what vendor will be showcased next!

Real Atlanta Wedding: Nicole + Chauncey

Our StudioWed vendors work tirelessly to ensure that each wedding they take on reflects the style, creativity, and personality of the couple. And this June 19 Real Atlanta Wedding of Nicole and Chauncey is no exception. Designed by Lemiga Events, this wedding took shape around a modern paisley print and a bright palette of pink, yellow, and black.

Lemiga Events is now offering full design rendering of the decor so each bride can get a real vision of what her big day will look like. Check out these drawings, and then see how the actual event turned out!

I Do Linens was able to take the design to the next level with custom paisley linens, runners, and napkins. Incorporating breaks in the paisley with pink runners and napkins kept the design clean.

This cake by Sweet Sensations totally fit this fun couple, and the linen by I Do Linens was designed to match the bride’s dress.

When our vendors are given the chance to collaborate, the outcome is always unique and beautiful. The details of this wedding represented Nicole and Chauncey’s bright personalities while still keeping elegance in mind. We can’t wait to see what the next StudioWed collaboration will bring!

Thanks to Nadine Dodd for the photos.

Tour Our Studio!

I hope that everyone had a fun, celebratory, relaxing Fourth of July Weekend! To get posting kicked off for the week, I want to share the transformation of StudioWed. The past couple of months have seen big changes inside of the studio. We finished a complete redesign of our space, including covering furniture in light blue suede, getting custom-painted furniture, hanging new drape, and featuring seasonally-inspired table displays. And all of that was done by our vendors! They really are the best!

And when all of that was done, Project Duo Photography came in and took some totally gorgeous photos of the newly completed space. They were even featured on Brooklyn Bride as a Studio Tour. Check out some of them below.

Stop by the studio to see our complete renovation! We have new Summer table displays, lots of magazines, and the displays of our talented vendors for wedding inspiration.

If you’d like to see the studio in person, register for our next Open House event on July 6 (that’s tomorrow!). Visit the Open House website to register and for more information!
