We specialize in all things paper and graphic design. We offer custom business stationery and collateral as well as social stationery. How did you get started and when?
Our founder, Lisa R. Zachery, started designing invitations and other stationery pieces as a hobby. She loved assisting loved ones with life’s celebrations. She began the business part-time in 1995, while working in Corporate America. Papered Wonders, Inc. began to operate as a full-time entity in 2001 and since that time we have grown our client base and have serviced hundreds of brides throughout the years.

How do you customize stationery for your clients?
Our customization process starts at the very beginning. Every piece and detail of stationery, whether business, social or wedding, is a unique combination and representation of the client’s desires and vision. We focus on the intricate details so that each piece of stationery differs from the other and so that the client is fully embodied into the work.

What do you offer in addition to invites and save the dates?
We offer all things paper! In regards to wedding stationery, we offer save the dates and thank you cards and everything in between including, but not limited to, wedding invitations, programs, menu cards, escort cards, favors, seating charts, directional signs, banners, keepsake boxes, and the list goes on!

What is your favorite part of the process?
Our favorite part of the process is the process itself! We take great pleasure in working closely with our client throughout the design process. We love interacting with them and learning more about them by learning their distinct preferences. When the journey is over, we are pleased when the client is pleased but saddened that the process has to come to an end. Fortunately, we seek to build relationships so that when one celebration ends and the other begins, we are there to start the process all over again!

Where do you get inspiration from?
We look to many sources for creative direction, but our greatest inspiration is our clients. So much of our work is dependent upon who the client is and what they seek to convey that they become the driving force for all of our creativity.

What makes you different from other stationery specialists?
We would like to believe that what makes us different is the personal approach we take to business. Rather than viewing our clients as business transactions, we consider them to be an extension of the work we do at Papered Wonders, Inc. We do not merely service our clients, but we seek to serve them and provide them with the absolute best experience possible.

Ask the Expert: How to Incorporate Your Wedding Colors in Your Stationery

Sarah Sorrentino, owner of Foglio Press,

recently gave us the inside scoop on unique and creative ways to incorporate your wedding colors into your stationery.  Your stationery is often the first impression your guests will have of your wedding; you might as well give them a little preview of what your big day will look like. Read Sarah’s thoughts on the topic below:

Stationery…

is your chance to make an amazing and unforgettable first impression on your wedding guests – so it goes without saying that it’s a super important part of your wedding design scheme! Your save the dates and invitations should introduce and underscore the style of your wedding celebration in every way, including, of course, your color scheme. While we’ve gotten away from very strict and “matchy-matchy” wedding “theme colors” in modern event planning, it’s still important to create a cohesive and beautiful plan for the use of color throughout your wedding day. And as brides and grooms get more creative and sophisticated in their overall event designs, they’re also moving far away from the very traditional idea of ivory paper and black ink as the only acceptable options for their save the dates and invitations.

Here are a few creative ways to infuse a little color into your wedding stationery and set a beautiful mood for your guests, well before they set foot inside the chapel door!

1. Ink Colors

If you lean a bit towards the traditional, but want to incorporate just a hint of color into your invitation suite, ink color is a great place to do so. Add a pop of color for just the bride and groom’s names, or use a beautiful hue for all of your text for a sophisticated alternative to the usual black. Here, we designed an accent of deep plum ink in a bold calligraphy-inspired font, and balanced it out with a soft, warm grey for the main invitation text.

2. Artwork

For a more dramatic presentation, add colorful design elements to your suite – these can be more literal representations of your wedding theme (introducing a beach wedding with shells or starfish, for example) or they can be more modern or abstract like the watercolor wash used in the seaside wedding suite below.

3. Paper layers, Belly Bands and Ribbons

If you like a clean and simple design layout, layering papers and ribbons can be a great way to add a bit of texture as well as color to your suite. You can create a paneled effect with colorful papers, or just bundle all of the pieces in your suite with a gorgeous ribbon to finish things off and keep everything together inside the envelope.

4. Pocket Folders

Speaking of inserts, if you have a lot of them you may want to consider packaging everything neatly inside a pocket folder – this gives your guests an easy place to keep it all together. And, it’s a perfect place to add color – you can go subtle or bold, traditional or modern, solid colors or playful patterns! This springtime invitation suite incorporated a fresh, light Tiffany blue shimmer in the pocket folder, and accented with a classic butter yellow grosgrain ribbon and a wax seal to finish.

5. Edge Painting

This is by far one of my personal favorite ways to add unexpected, modern color to an invitation – paint a thin stripe of bold color along the edges of extra-luxurious, double-thick paper!

6. Colored Paper

For a super traditional bride, this might be considered heresy – but we’re seeing more and more couples opt for colorful papers in their invitation suites, and when done with a bit of restraint, this can be a gorgeous and unexpected twist on a classic look! Here, we printed on a gorgeous, light blush paper with gold foil stamping and warm grey screen printing for a look that was at once sophisticated and whimsical.

7. Envelope Liners

This is one finishing touch that I firmly believe no invitation suite should be without. Lining your envelopes just completes a suite like nothing else. Go for a simple, solid color, add a little bit of shimmer, or use a one-of-a-kind handmade paper for a completely unique twist in an elegant and modern application. Whatever paper you choose, your envelope liners are the perfect place for that final pop of gorgeous, statement-making color!

Ask the Expert- What to know before booking a caterer

We know that picking a caterer for your wedding or event can be a daunting task. Food is one of the most important elements of a wedding. Sure you want the florals and decor to be gorgeous, your hair and makeup to be flawless, your vows to be perfect, but you also really want your guests to enjoy their meal! Our friends at Freckled and Blue  have given us some insight in to what you need to know before you contact caterers.

What should a couple know before booking their caterer?
Before you book a caterer, a couple should know the top line details of their event such as date/time, location and expected number of guests. Another important factor that many couples are unsure of initially is their budget. Budgets are extremely important in setting realistic expectations between a caterer and a wedding client. Finally, it is good for a couple to have an idea of what style of catering they are seeking. Are they looking for multi-course plated meal, a buffet, appetizers only, etc? Determining how they want there food served at their reception goes a long way into finding the right caterer to execute their needs.

How far in advance of my wedding should I contact caterers? Have a tasting?
We need at least two months notice to have time to plan out a menu, do a tasting and execute an agreement. Many of our wedding clients reach out to us 3-6 months in advance which is more than enough time. The time it takes to go through our catering process also largely depends on the couple’s availability and their knowledge regarding specifics of their reception details. Items such as budget and style of catering should be ironed out before reaching out to a caterer so that the process can move more efficiently.
