Four Ways to Add a Touch of Glamour to Your Wedding {feat. Janel Elise Events}

If you’re a bride to be with an affinity for flounce, frills, and all things extravagant, you’ll need the right planner to find design elements that fit with your definition of glam. Janel Elise Events has an affinity for designing vibrant and elegant weddings that you and your guests will be sure to remember. Here are a few elements she has used to bring an extra hint of flair to ceremonies in the past.

  1. Pearl Details

If you want decor that looks soft and dainty (but glamorous all the same), pearls can give a feminine, sophisticated look to your reception.

2. Feather Centerpieces

Adding feather centerpiece like this one to your reception tables would make a fabulous statement, especially if you’re going for a bold, Old Hollywood style. If you want to go the extra mile, incorporate subtle feather details into your bridal look!

3. Hints of Purple

Purple has long been associated with royalty, so including it in your color scheme will give your wedding an air of luxury. In this wedding, the bride wore purple heels and carried a lilac and cream colored bouquet while the groom wore a deep purple bow tie and a lavender dress shirt. This is a perfect example of how using a neutral color palette with pops of purple is a great way to make a glamorous statement at your ceremony.

4.  Subtle Damask Accents

If you’re looking for a way to incorporate a lavish air to your wedding decor but still want it to look light and airy, subtle damask accents will work wonders. For instance, these gold damask vases give just the right amount of elegance to this modern reception table.

Vendor Spotlight: Bloomin’ Bouquets

If you’re beginning to plan your wedding, you’ve likely discovered that choosing flowers is a challenging task. The experts at Bloomin’ Bouquets can simplify the process by creating unique arrangements based on your vision. In this Vendor Spotlight, head designer JoAnn Jones discusses her creative inspiration for Bloomin’ Bouquets, as well as a few tips about the company.

Where are you located?

All of Bloomin’ Bouquets creative work happens in our studio in Roswell, but we meet most of our clients at StudioWed or at their venue.

Do you offer services to clients outside of Atlanta?

Many of our brides have moved away from home for college and their careers, but they like to come home to Atlanta to celebrate with family.  It is easy to share creative ideas over long distance with ease through the internet and Pinterest.

How far in advance should clients begin meeting with you?

One year before their wedding, some have even started planning two years before their wedding. There are peak times for the Atlanta area, after Easter during spring, April and May, is beautiful and the weather is so wonderfully cool, so Bloomin’ Bouquets is pretty busy.  During the fall, October, around the south we book quickly on dates that our footballs teams are playing away games.

When did you know you wanted to become a floral designer?

JoAnn Jones, floral designer with Bloomin’ Bouquets has been interested in art her whole life.  It is an intense view of the world.  Flowers are now my palette of colors to create living art through bouquets.

Maggie's wedding bouquet consists of light pink roses, white roses, spray roses, eucalyptus, berries, red freesia and other greenery. Cream and deep red ribbon is tied on the bouquet to create a unique element.: Maggie and David's cake is topped and decorated with with spray roses, coral roses, hydrangeas, and berries.:

What is your favorite floral design trend at the moment?

Bloomin’ Bouquets’ clients are unique and use succulent for casual and extravagant weddings.  Succulents have that unusual blue green color and smooth texture. Succulents change color when the days are shorter and the temperature falls, turning to a soft pink some are deep eggplant. Succulents can blend well with the unique texture of fall dahlias.   We are also seeing a trend towards mixing metals. The mixing of the metals makes for such a great, unique look.  CANDLES, we love to use lots of candles to create a soft, romantic look.  Is there ever enough candlelight?

Do you have a favorite flower?

Bloomin’ doesn’t have a favorite flower or a favorite color.  Or even a favorite style!  They all work differently together and next to each other. I am always looking for combinations of color and texture for flowers, linen and even in the event spaces.  This is called ‘juxtaposition’ the instance of placing things close together or side by side, especially for comparison or contrast.

What makes your service unique?

Bloomin Bouquets is a unique floral and event design company that combines classic creativity with innovation to bring our clients a unique approach to each floral design.

Atlanta has remarkable floral talent ranging across many styles, we all respect our family and what we have learned from them.  Flowers evoke many emotions from the roses your grandmother grew to the smell of wildflowers during a hike.  We pride ourselves on listening to our client’s ideas. We value our relationships with our clients and vendors who work together and pulling it all together to create that one look for your special day!

What is something that most people don’t know about you or your business?

We began this business as “older” ladies just hoping to create a hobby that would keep us busy as our children had grown and left the proverbial nest.  However that “hobby” has turned into a full fledged business and we couldn’t be prouder.
