Draped in Decadence

If you follow this blog at all, you know that much of my wedding-day wow came from the exquisite work of drape that swept magically across the ceiling, spanning the entire reception area. It was like nothing I had ever seen… which actually seems to be a recurring theme with the work from Event Drapery.

Event after event (wedding or not), their handy-work (yes, pun intended) is worth taking a second glance at. Beyond worth – you’ll have to struggle to keep your jaw off the floor and your hands to yourself. But in the famous words of a childhood tv mentor, “you don’t have to take my word for it…”

And now, they’ve got a brand-new website to match their incredible creativity and talent. Check it out at www.eventdrapery.com!

What a Wedding Experience!

Even from the sunny beaches of Antigua, I couldn’t help but hear through the grapevine about what an incredible event this was. The re-grand opening of our StudioWed space and our annual event, The Wedding Experience made for one unforgettable Saturday for several newly-engaged couples. Our own fabulous intern, Miss Brittany Baptiste held down the house while I was gone… so she’s given us a fabulous recap to share! Read on!

The Wedding Experience:

We had such a great time at The Wedding Experience last weekend. We had a whole day planned for our brides and their guests and couldn’t wait to get started!

EDGE Design Group did all of the bright and fun floral arrangements and design for the event.

Each bride was greeted with a special St. Germain cocktail conjured up by our very own Carmelita of Lyght House Cocktails and given a moment to peruse our fabulous pop-up shops: Stella & Dot, Sheree A’Dore Boutique, Sunny’s Hair, and La Gartier.  What better way to start the day than with some sips and shopping?

Our brides also received their very own StudioWed swag bag filled to the brim with goodies like bridal magazines, sweet treats, information about our vendors and even a few coupons!

A few of our vendors spoke and showed off their stuff to a captivated audience. Everyone (including some grooms-to-be!) had questions to ask each vendor about their business and any bumps they were experiencing in the planning process.

Our guests were able to watch a makeup and hair trial (P3 Lab), ask a professional planner their burning questions (A Big To Do Event & Lemiga Events), get some tips on photography (Project Duo Photography), get quizzed on invitation etiquette (Foglio Press), and so much more, all in a relaxed and inspiring environment.

With so much to learn, we had to take a break for lunch, which was provided by the fantastic ladies of Added Touch Catering with cake samples by Sweet Sensations. Everyone got a chance to mix and mingle and meet each other before diving back into all things wedding! We even had a giveaway for a date night at Cine Bistro courtesy of our friends at The Atlantan Brides.

The Wedding Experience was such an informative and inspirational day for not only the brides and their guests, but for us at StudioWed too! We couldn’t be more thankful for all of the vendors that participated in this StudioWed event. If you happened to miss all the fun, no worries, keep checking the StudioWed Atlanta Facebook and blog for even more events ahead!

And the recap begins…

Hellooooo Readers! I am home! Back in the studio and ready to spill the deets of my big day with anyone who is willing to listen. Images are in the works, so this is just a typography teaser, but couldn’t wait to get back in touch with all of you!

My first thought since being back? Is it really all over? And, What the heck do I do now?

The obsessing, the worrying, the sleepless nights, the nail biting… Just kidding. I have to say that my engagement journey was one for the books. Yes, I can’t deny a few bouts with tears, but with the dream team of creative geniuses and problem solvers I had with me, looking back it was a piece of cake! And a whole lot of fun.

Here are the highlights…

Event Drapery manifested a show-stopping drape spanning the width of the “ballroom” in the gallery. I have never seen it anywhere else, and no one could stop talking about it!

Foglio Press pulled through with elegant day-of stationery, from delicately assembled programs to a positively vintage candy bar sign.

The Savage Garden and I Do Linens (CHAMPS!) created what (in my oh so modest opinion) the most beautiful group of tables I have EVER seen in my life. I even had a friend inspired to take the ideas into her own home!

Endive delivered (as usual) some of the best wedding food that exists out there. Anyone I’ve talked to since we got back has said it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had!

Livin’ Large, I have an announcement to make… You may have a new groupie on the way. Your Beatles covers were perfect and you kept everyone on their feet and smiling. I can’t wait to see some of the moves caught on film.

Shutterbooth, you gave me a platform to see a whole new side of some of our friends. The memory book will NEVER leave our coffee table!

For Goodness Cakes, although I only got one bite of my cake, it was hands-down a highlight to the evening. Rich, delicious, moist and decadent. I can’t wait to order more cakes from you… I may not even justify it with an occasion.

Obviously, Settee created such a nice point for people to ooh and ahh over with the rustic farm tables, giving the elegant room a hint of character.

And I am sure it goes without saying, but I am going to shout it from the rooftops, Lemiga Events is an absolute dream. I never worried about ONE thing on my wedding day. She brought me peace of mind to have the best night of my life… and even brought me to tears with how it all came together. I cannot even begin to say enough good things about the experience with her… and not for one second to I hesitate in admitting I was thankful to have hired a wedding planner.

Now, readers, you’re saying, BUT WHEN CAN WE SEE IT? I will have your coverage very soon and probably won’t be able to stop sharing it. So, sit tight, check out the sneak peeks on Facebook and Twitter and get ready to covet the StudioWed wedding of year (so modest)!!

P.S. WE WENT TO ANTIGUA!!!

Makeover Mondays: 3 Beauty Tips for Brides

Something borrowed, something blue… can’t anyone tell us something new?!

Mr. Scoobie West to the rescue, with the 3 MUST-KNOW makeup tips for every bride.

ONE

Always use a foundation primer… not only does it help to smooth things out, but it also helps keep the makeup on all night!
TWO

Always apply foundation under your chin, all the way down to your neck.  Necks are often lighter than your face and décolletage and you .  Once you apply foundation, set with powder, then dust with bronzer.
THREE

Lashes are a must!  A natural set of lashes will make the eyes look bigger and more dramatic.
