Today we are featuring Michael Aram, the internationally renowned designer.

Michael Aram has lived and worked in India since 1989. Trained as a painter, sculptor and art historian, Aram has neatly applied his diverse background to the decorative arts. Lyrical and often witty, his work encompasses a wide range of media and revelas a rich and variant source of inspiration–nature, mthology, narrative storytelling, and purified form. Aram’s work is also a celebration of craft and age–old handworking traditions. It is the enduring fusion of these ideals– originality, storyline and craftsmanship–that has become the hallmark of this gifted artist.

The Garland Collection is built on classical shapes with very delicate sculpture which depicts two different flowers growing from the same vine. The sense of romance combined with formal shapes, make them perfect heirlooms for important celebrations, yet the artisanal, hand-sculpted characteristics of the pieces and their easy-to-maintain quality make them ready for enjoyment in everyday life.

“There is something poetic for me about the image of two flowers stemming from the same vine. I love the thought of different entities somehow joined and nurtured by a combined life source. In real terms, this is the ultimate ideal of love and commitment!”
