Summer Wedding Inspiration

I’ve met so many Summer 2011 brides lately! This year is really flying by, and those newly engaged ladies will be getting married before we know it. So in that spirit, we will be showcasing an “Inspiration-Board-a-Week” series to give those brides just kicking off their planning process a place to start.

I used the Style Me Pretty wedding blog (it’s a must-see for brides, vendors, and wedding lovers alike!) to make this inspiration board of lemon-y yellow and spearmint with pops of oranges. To me, no other color combination defines summer like this one. I picture the wedding taking place in a field and serving lots of lemonade (or maybe a Frosted Orange for an Atlanta twist!) and featuring organic citrus-and-flower centerpieces on long, rustic tables.

Yellow, green, and orange remind me of lemonade, freshly cut grass, and summer sunsets. What’s your favorite summer color combo? Share your own inspiration board and why it’s the ultimate summer color combination in the comments section! Be on the lookout for next week’s summer inspiration board for an ultra-chic ballroom wedding.

Studio Spotlight: Erica Angeline

It’s always such a shame when we see radiant brides with ill-fitting gowns. Or bridesmaids looking miserable in just-plain-bad bridesmaid dresses. That’s where bridal gown, bridesmaid and cocktail dress, and jewelry designer Erica Angeline comes in. Erica designs dresses made for a woman’s body with lots of personal touches like intricate beading and lace.  Learning more about the studio’s one-and-only clothing and jewelry designer was a blast!

Q: How did you get your start in fashion design?

Erica: Barbie was my first client!

Q: What do you love about working with brides and in the wedding industry?

Erica: I love to see people happy.

Q: What is your best advice for the day-of the wedding?

Erica: Every bride should have a lady-in-waiting to attend to her every need.

Q: Who is your biggest career or artistic inspiration?

Erica: Martha Stewart and Coco Chanel; I love women who don’t apologize.

Q: Who is your dream wedding client, and why?

Erica: It is a tie between Scarlett Johansson and Audrey Tatou. They both have a confidence that is ultra feminine and chic.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

Erica: “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.” – Coco Chanel

Q: Who is your dream concert line-up?

Erica: Jimi Hendrix, Joi, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pink, and Ben Harper.

Q: If you could have dinner with one famous person, who would it be and what would you eat?

Erica: I would have a hot dog with John Michel Basquiat.

Q: How would you spend your perfect Saturday, from morning ’til night?

Erica: MGM musicals and sushi.

Honeymoon Friday: Barbados

Calling all foodies! Today’s Honeymoon Friday deal is one after my own heart, and I think everyone at LT Travel Connection must have known when they sent this one to me. From November 19 to November 22, Barbados is hosting the First Annual Food, Wine, and Rum Festival! The festival features celebrity chefs Tom Colicchio, Marcus Samuelsson, and Tim Love just to name a few. As a huge Top Chef fan, I am swooning over this lineup!

LT Travel Connection is offering deals as low as $945 per person for airfare, hotel, and taxes and transfers. All-inclusive hotels, plus airfare and taxes, are just under $400 more. Contact them today for more on their deals to this exciting new festival! Check out Turtle Beach Resort, one of the all-inclusive resorts offering a deal through LT Travel Connection.

This week’s travel tip was inspired by the news of this festival. A honeymoon centered around it would be a perfect honeymoon for someone like me who enjoys trying new foods and dining out. If you and your fiance are into any other hobby, do some research to find a festival devoted to that activity. Curacao has a jazz festival, Seattle hosts Bumbershoot (a music and arts festival), Ontario has a Scottish festival, and others can be found throughout the year. Festivals and shows are a great way to see a new city and also enjoy something the two of you share.
