April’s first photo of the week is a super-cute engagement picture taken by Lotus Blossom Photography on Vanderbilt’s campus. I love the big shade tree, Suzi’s pretty burnt orange swingy dress, and the laughter. :)

Now here’s a concept I hadn’t heard of before: A picnic wedding! My sister sent me a link to the picture that started this inspiration board, and I just couldn’t get over how cute and innovative the idea was! Obviously this wouldn’t work for a super-formal wedding or a rainy day, but it’s downright precious for a sunny spring or fall afternoon. Picnics work for: Engagement shoots. Rehearsal dinners. Weddings. After-wedding brunches. Engagement parties. Bachelorette parties. Welcome luncheons. Even a picnic basket would be a perfect wedding present! (Just pack with picnic-appropriate plates, napkins, baguette-holders, or what have you!) And for a budget wedding, think of how simple this would be to throw together! If you have a basket collection to rival my mother’s (she gets a new basket every time she’s out of the house, practically!), you’re well on your way. Little pies, parchment-wrapped chicken salad croissants, thermoses full of freshly squeezed lemonade, hand-made quilts, and pastel ginghams make for a cozy, lazy Sunday wedding setting! Or class things up with a vineyard picnic wedding, complete with local organic wine, a jazz band, and twinkle lights along the perimeter.

From top left, clockwise: tea-length, organic wine, burlap bout, gingham, seersucker, sweets, basket weave, picnic shower, glowy table, fairy hair, wrapped sandwiches, blue seersucker, basket cake, utensils, grapes, picnic outside the woods, antique quilt, picnic wedding, teal basket, plaid bowtie, basket collection, anthro dress, pie favors.
Inspiringly yours,
