How did you get started in weddings?
John and I have both enjoyed taking photos since we were photographers for our respective high school yearbooks. After I planned our wedding in 2006 and we realized what a treasure our weddings photos were, it was like a light bulb went off. Photographing weddings is a great way to do what we enjoy and bring happiness to others.

What do you like most about weddings?
I love that throughout the day, people tend to forget we are there. I love having the opportunity to capture the candid, emotional moments that only happen at weddings!

What’s your favorite wedding pic/video and why?
This question is so hard! Every wedding is unique and I have favorite photos from every event we’ve shot. I guess if I had to choose just one, I would pick this one of Suzi and Dave exiting their recent ceremony. I just love the pure joy on their faces!

What is your service philosophy?
I try very hard to make every client feel like our only client.

What are your strengths compared to others in your category? / Why should a bride hire you?
I’d say one of our strengths is definitely value for your dollar. We are not the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but I believe that we provide quality images that will stand the test of time.

Who are your 5 favorite Nashville wedding vendors – helpfulness, professionalism, style?
Picking 5 is just too hard! Instead I’d like to refer to two organizations I’m a part of that help brides choose great vendors – StudioWed Nashville and The Wedding Shoppe.

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer and you feel Lotus Blossom Photography may just be a perfect fit, call us at 615-739-5477 or email leigh@studiowed.net and we’ll set you up an appointment!

TOMS Bridal Line

From the TOMS website:  “In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers.”

Now you can help out shoeless children in need by wearing pretty, comfortable wedding shoes! TOMS just came out with several new styles that are bridal-appropriate, from ivory grosgrain wedges to blue glitter slip-ons that can serve as your “something blue.” TOMS are becoming a widespread trend as bridal party footwear, providing the means for brides and grooms alike to contribute to a charitable cause while staying fashionably on par. To top things off, you probably can’t find a more comfy pair of wedding shoes (no, not even flip-flops!).

Here’s a few of the styles available! Go check out toms.com today!

Inspiringly… Sweet

If you’re anything like me, you find it extremely difficult to say no to a scrumptious-looking dessert. I have considered going to pastry chef school, my favorite food is ice cream (I made some homemade vanilla bean last night!), and one of my top three aspects about weddings is the cake! (In case you’re wondering the other two are the DRESS and the band.) One recent trend in the special events industry has been the emergence of desserts BESIDES cake at weddings… From torch-your-own s’mores to ice cream trucks and cookies with milk shots, there’s a lot of options.

Credits, from top left clockwise:  frames buffet, milk and cookies, s’mores, cake pops, whipped cream puffs, cookie buffet, pink and blue cakes, donut holes, pies, raspberry shortcakes.

Is anyone else hungry now?

Inspiringly,

~ Kelly
