This week we’re featuring Amy Lynn Larwig, our hair and makeup expert!

My wedding planning advice is very similar to my life philosophy:  “It’s just not that serious.” As a makeup artist, I see brides on average about two months before their wedding. During our consultation we talk a lot about where they are in their planning and how things are going with that process. The girls who have spent the last week agonizing over whether to use canary yellow or sunshine yellow for the ribbon around their favors are usually showing all that stress in their skin, hair, and eyes. When we stress, our hormones get all out of whack, causing breakouts. We don’t sleep as soundly, resulting in dark circles. We are tired, so we tie our hair back in a holder, breaking its ends and leaving it looking dull. So let’s be real. When you are 60 years old, you will have a wonderful husband and some pictures and video from your wedding day. You probably won’t have that yellow ribbon. You probably won’t even remember what the favors were! So don’t spend all this time stressing over these details that in the long run are not going to matter anyway. Focus on the reason for getting married: because of that good lookin’ piece of man! Because you love each other. Because you plan to spend forever together. Focus on taking care of you and enjoying this awesome process. Trust me ladies, when you are 60 and you look back at those pictures, you want to remember how awesome you looked and felt. Eliminating stress will leave you skin clearer, your eyes brighter, and you will feel lighter. Next time the planning process becomes overwhelming, remember, it’s just not that serious.
